Since the Korean Drama has been very disappointing lately. There are no good K-Dramas to watch lately, so I started to drooling over Chinese Drama titled the 'Princess Agent' which is played by the super famous Chinese actress, Zhao Li Ying, but again the drama is so disappointing with the lack of acting skill of the main actor, then a confusing story line which gets us to no where, and an end which ended without any conclusion at all!
Then, I stumbled into this drama, which just started to air like 3 weeks ago, and still have another 30 episodes to go. Despite the cliche plot just like every other Chinese ancient imperial palace drama, this drama is likeable. At first I started to watch because the main girl, Dilraba Dilmurat, is super pretty and the trailer which has been go on like weeks is super awesome.
The stories is about love stories of King of Qin and this pretty girl, which of course a fictional story. If you don't know who he is, King of Qin is the one who conquer all of China for the first time in history during warring periods, and he is the one who ordered people to build Great Wall, and with some more other pretty awesome achievement.
The story started of somewhere around when King of Qin is trying to get back the power of the throne which should have been his. And a series of event which makes him meet up with the main girl and started an intrigue between hate, love, revenge, scheming, etc. As the story goes on though, the male lead which looks just so-so at the beginning of the story, is finally taking its troll with his not so normal character, which I think the actor makes a very good job in depicting this King of Qin's unique and special character.
But the female lead is well..... she has a pretty face but a very annoying character. And of course like any other female lead in a Chinese Drama, every male character around her is falling for her deeply. But, we still have another 30 episodes to go, which means her character in the drama is not fully developed yet.
As for the second male lead, we have Qing Ke, who in real history is an assassin who tried to kill King of Qin but ended up died tragically in the palace even before he is able to hurt the king for a little bit. But in this drama, he's just some drunkard who get super drunk and emotional in every episodes because he cannot believe that female lead leave her for the king. He's out in 18 episodes, and almost in every scene he is in the drunk state, which makes me kind of fed up and hope he would just go on the suicide mission as soon as possible.
And then you have the third male lead, yes you didn't read it wrong, it's the third male lead. Told you every guy in this drama is basically falling head over heels for the female lead, which I don't think makes any sense at all. He has an unrequited love for the female lead, but instead of professing his love, he choose to keep quiet and stand aside, while protecting the female lead. But sometimes, all his help turns the female lead's problem become an even bigger problem, which sucks!
Overall, this drama is quite lovable to watch if you're a fan of Qin Dynasty History, as they potray every event of the dynasty quite accurately, except for the love story of course. As based on what the historians say, Emperor Qin have been known as a super cold blooded and has his own trauma for women as his mom didn't treat him well during his childhood which makes him seeing women only as a tool for politics, and that's why he also decided not to put any of his concubines on the empress throne.
